How to Appreciate Teachers

As a company who hires substitute teachers and pairs them with child care centers in need, we know how important it is to show appreciation to our teachers. Teachers are famously overworked and under paid, but at Sunflower Childcare Substitutes we ensure our teachers and staff know how much we appreciate them. Here are a few ways we show how much we care.

From the Start

The interview process can be nerve wracking. You are likely trying to leave your (current) job on break or ask to come in late to get to an interview on time. Sunflower Childcare Substitutes allow you to set up interviews when they work for you. After 6 p.m. at the local diner, a Zoom call during lunch, or a phone call on your commute (make sure to not text and drive)- We are available when you are! Knocking out the idea that you must meet the schedule of your employer and nothing else is one way we show how much we care about our future employees and their work/life balance.

Training in Progress

The week of training that comes with any new job can be dreadful. At Sunflower Substitutes, we break up the days and make it fun! You complete all necessary paperwork online to save you from all that writing. The first two days of training can be completed from the comfort of your home. Day 3 of training will start your in-person training where you will be welcomed with some treats from your wish list as well as swag from us. Training will be interactive, hands on, and will progress at a speed that is right for you, because your time and education is important to us.

Happy Birthday to YOU

Birthdays are special and should be celebrated no matter the age! Sunflower Childcare Substitutes not only provide paid holidays off, but we also provide paid birthday off for employees who are eligible. Afterall, your birthday is special to you, and you should spend it how you wish.

Vacation, all we ever wanted

Have you ever had a job where you were only eligible for paid-time-off after a specific amount of time? When you work with us, you start accruing PTO as soon as you start, based off the hours worked in a pay period and the length of time you are with us. That is how you let you know your staff is appreciated from the start!

A Career that Cares

Finally, the number one way we show our appreciation is allowing our substitute teachers choose their ideal schedule. Teachers can choose the days, hours, or even weeks they want to work to meet the needs of themselves and their families. If you have children and can only work when they are in school, you can do that. Only available on days you don’t have school, we can work with that. You can change your availability based on your needs because we know life can change in a blink and family needs come first.

These are just a few ways Sunflower Childcare Substitutes show their appreciation for our team. We want to not only meet the needs of partner child care centers and day cares, but also the needs of our staff and their families. If you are looking for a career in education, we are hiring across Northeast Ohio and would love to talk more about your ideal work/life balance.
